Stimulating thoughts – Symposium on non-invasive brain stimulation in neuropsychiatric disease 15 May 2025

May 15th 2025, meeting room “De Nieuwe Meer”, Amsterdam UMC (location VUmc/De Boelelaan 1118, 1081 HV Amsterdam), 13:00 – 18:00 hrs

Aim: to unite Amsterdam UMC researchers working on non-invasive brain stimulation in different fields of expertise within neurology, psychiatry and neuroscience.

Background: Non-invasive brain stimulation (NIBS) is increasingly investigated as treatment option for various neuropsychiatric conditions, and also has a link with fundamental research on dynamic brain networks, where manipulation of brain activity may help to unravel underlying mechanisms of cognitive (dys)function. In this symposium, we want to provide an overview of how NIBS is applied to neuropsychiatric disease at the Amsterdam UMC, and explore where research hypotheses, aims and methods overlap.
